Adrian

I became interested in fitness, exercise, nutrition, etc. during my last year or so of high school. I had been playing football for the last three years and volleyball since 7th grade. Yes, I got made fun of for that, but funny how if you just own things people tend to not care as much - even if I did care deep down.

Anyway, much to my own surprise I received a scholarship to play volleyball in college, and this is right about where my fitness obsession took off. I read anything and everything, went from bodybuildng to "functional", from only listening to guys who I realized only later were only trying to get me to buy their stuff to digging deep for the Jim Wendlers, Dave Tates, and Layne Nortons - the ones who focused on a quality product instead of a quality marketing team. I am forever indebted to people like them for helping me find the light. But in a way it's also good that I went through all of those stages.

Because I went to a small school we didn't have much in the way of professional strength coaches, save a few football coaches who held their NSCA certifications as the last word in the weight room. My head coach and I had a great professional relationship in that I pretty much designed our program's strength and conditioning program. It was my first test.

Fast forward and here I am now.

I'm still trying to learn everything I can by reading, talking, listening, writing, applying, and competing in the occasional low-level Olympic Weightlifting meet. For me, it's all part of the same system of growing;  every experience we have has the ability to teach us something if we only reflect on it. Mindlessly going through life, going through the motions will only lead to you saying "How the hell am I still here?" in 40 years.

I've always sucked pretty bad at the whole bio and cover letter thing, so hopefully you take away more from my other writings elsewhere on this site rather than this poor attempt at briefly describing my life. And most of all I hope we can help, and you enjoy it as well.
